WKE is completing the final design PS&E for the grade separation of Rice Avenue over Fifth Street (SR 34) and the UPRR tracks. As a designated heavy freight corridor from Port Hueneme to US 101, this safety improvement project will construct a six-lane bridge on Rice Avenue over the UPRR tracks and SR 34 that would stretch approximately 800 feet north and south of the crossings, and would include sidewalks and bike paths in each direction.
