WKE got together for a fun night of trivia hosted exclusively for WKE employees. With prizes for each round, the competition level was high. One thing is for sure, we all need to brush up on geography before the next trivia night!

For those that missed out, here are the three questions everyone got right and the three questions that stumped most teams.

 Three questions that everyone got right: 

  1. What neurodegenerative disease was first discovered by a French scientist in 1891, but was brought to national attention by a baseball player in 1939?

Announcing John (J.D.) Ballas

John (J.D.) Ballas, P.E., joins WKE as a Principal Engineer. With over 35 years successfully managing complex capital improvement projects from conceptual planning through to design and implementation, WKE welcomes the leadership, collaborative, and management experience J.D. brings not only to individual projects, but to the industry as a whole. His successes in interfacing with local, county, and state officials and regulatory agencies, and in securing and maintaining grant funding and budgeting is a testament to J.D.’s strategic approaches to multi-agency collaboration and project fulfillment.

J.D. has spent the last 27 years with City of Industry, completing his tenure as City Engineer and Public Works Director. While there he parlayed $35 million in local interchange mitigation improvement funds into the $256 million State Route 57/60 Confluence Project. J.D. also secured $23 million in Metro grand funding and $10 million in TIGER grants.
